DCH is the only nonprofit membership organization in Delaware that mobilizes and inspires community greening statewide in urban and suburban environments. By inspiring an appreciation for improving our environment through horticulture, education, and conservation, we have become a leader in improving and beautifying communities by harnessing the power of our members, volunteers, and staff to go out and make a difference. Our members come from Delaware and the surrounding region and bring with them a passion for plants only matched by that of our staff members. With more than 600 active and dedicated volunteers annually, we have a tremendous amount of community support, which allows us to accomplish the impossible.

Today we planted a meadow garden with the students of NCCL and volunteers from Discover at Phillips park. The students had designed the layout of the garden and picked the native plants to help support local pollinators and wildlife. Over 1500 landscape plugs were planted and each student and volunteer were able to take a bee balm plant home to continue the support of our pollinators in their own garden. Thank you to the Newark Parks and Recreation and the City of Newark, DE!

We love pollinators at DCH for their ecological benefits. They sustain native plant populations and help in the production of our fruits and vegetables. Support your local pollinators by planting native flowers.

This boutique cut flower farm showcases beautiful cut flowers, unique plants and roots to grow your own. Mara Tyler moved from California to Pennsylvania in 2013 and bought a beautiful 1838 farmhouse on a 12-acre farmette, previously used as a dairy and sheep farm. The concept of a flower farm was born from the pastures and meadowed flatlands, which seemed the perfect spot to grow peonies, dahlias, roses, spring bulbs and companion perennials. You’ll enjoy a tour of the field of dahlias, learn about the farm and its growing methods, and have an opportunity to purchase cut flowers, and roots and bulbs for your own garden.
