Garden description: We transformed a small urban back yard into an inviting shade garden with a cascading fountain. A variety of plants provides successive blooms from spring through fall and many of shades of green delight the viewer. Our emphasis has been on planting as many natives as possible for both humans and wildlife to enjoy.
Who are the gardeners: Two professional musicians do the work: David Schelat and Grant Youngblood.
Why do you garden: Outlet for exercise, to provide for the habitat of various animals and birds, and to provide beauty in the neighborhood.
How has gardening impacted you during this time: The garden has received a lot of attention this year! It has been fun.
What do you have in your garden? So many plants to name! The garden includes various ferns, heuchera, native geranium, aquilegia, oxalis, various solidago, sedum, erigeron, native lonicera, chasmanthium, baptisia, various hosta, along with fothergilla, vibernum dentatum, and a Japanese maple that came with the property, to name only a few. Various spring-blooming bulbs have their day in the sun as well.
Do you have any problems with disease or pests? If so, how are you dealing with this problem? There has never been a problem with pests or disease here.
