Join us for a fascinating talk on bamboo with author and horticultural professional Susanne Lucas, founder and executive director of the World Bamboo Organization. Seeing and using bamboo as a landscape designer and garden developer, Susanne expanded her appreciation of the dynamic plant for its myriad global applications as a vital natural resource, environmental remedy for degraded land, economic opportunity for communities in need, sustainable alternative building material, biofuel, fiber, and climate change mitigator, among others. She holds a BS in Horticulture from Colorado State University, served as a director for the American Bamboo Society, is past president of the American Bamboo Society, and served on the board of the International Plant Propagators Society Eastern Region. She has published many articles about ornamental bamboo, and in 2013, Reaktion Press UK published her book, Bamboos. This lecture ties into the Learning from Great Gardens event “A Garden of Contrasts”. The Zoom link will be sent the week of the event to all registered attendees.
