Virtual Lecture over Zoom
Join the DCH for an engaging virtual lecture with Wambui Ippolito on the intersections of gardening and culture – specifically the vast wealth of land-care knowledge held by Indigenous and immigrant people around the world. Wambui is an East African-born, New York-based horticulturist and a graduate of the New York Botanical Gardens School of Professional Horticulture. In 2021 she was the first immigrant Black woman to win Best in Show at the Philadelphia Flower Show. She is the founder of BIPOC Hort Group, a professional support, educational and advocacy group for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) in Public and Private Ornamental Horticulture. Scheduled on the heels of February in honor of Black History Month, but presented in March since every month is perfect to honor heritage, history, and our environment.
