Join DCH for our fun Fall Fundraising event Dance for Plants:Dance to the Beet. This year we will celebrate the extraordinary Power of the Beet! Not a beet lover? Do beets taste like dirt to you? Well, you're not alone. There is a scientific reason why some people love or hate beets. They contain a chemical called Geosmin which mean "dirt smell", the same aroma that occurs after a rainfall. And well, smell and taste are kind of connected. But beets are highly nutritious and good for you. They are high in dietary fiber, reduce inflammation, contain vitamins A, C and B6 and a great addition to a balanced diet. We'll have specialty beer, a featured cocktail from The Quoin Restaurant, called Femme Fatale, made with beet syrup, and lots of different recipes with beet to help change your mind about this beautiful root vegetable. But if that doesn't convince you, we'll have additional food and drinks for those who just can't get past the smell and taste of dirt. No judgement here. Come and dance with us, have some fun with friends, and help us raise funds to support our great work in the community.
