Greening Projects

Growing Together

DCH offers a range of horticultural services to public and private entities to support our mission-driven work throughout the state of Delaware. Working with local governments and nonprofits, business and corporate partners and other organizations, our staff offers consulting services to guide projects from beginning to end, including landscape concepts and design, plant sourcing, installation, maintenance, plant health assessment and more. Our contractual services perfectly align our staff’s extensive and broad horticultural experience with our goal to tackle challenging landscapes using ecologically sound approaches to improve local ecosystems.

Adorn Your Doorways

Adorn Your Doorways

Adorn Your Doorways is a beautification campaign and opportunity for local council members to sponsor fully planted containers to Wilmington residents. The planters consist of year-round interest plantings that highlight native perennials and spring blooming bulbs. These containers provide pollinator habitat to Wilmington while providing pops of color and bring joy to residents. After delivery, residents are encouraged to add any plants they wish as the containers are theirs’ to care for and enjoy! Residents are provided with a care sheet specific to their planters to ensure a long-lasting planter.

Sacred Grounds

The Sacred Grounds Delaware River Watershed project is working to connect faith-based organizations and historic cemeteries with equitable access to nature and building community capacity to steward native wildlife. The project is working to increase a vibrant network of native pollinator habitats that will foster community engagement, access to nature and encourage land stewardship. In partnership with National Wildlife Federation, Delaware Nature Society, and PA Interfaith Power & Light, DCH is honored to assist in establishing 6-7 new pollinator habitat gardens to participating faith-based community spaces.
