How To Recycle Your Christmas Tree into Rich Soil

DNREC is also sponsoring a free Christmas tree recycling event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Delaware Center for Horticulture (DCH). Volunteer opportunities are available at the family-friendly tree-shredding event as the Davey Tree team will be on hand to chip trees in a commercial chipper. All woodchips produced from the event will be used in the DCH gardens, Shearman Street community garden, and public landscapes throughout Wilmington. 

WITN22: Winter Wonderland Weekend at The Delaware Center for Horticulture

The Delaware Center for Horticulture invites you to some festive fun! We’ll be holding our greenery sale, holiday bazaar, and Art loop opening Friday-Saturday. Make sure to visit on Saturday, because Santa is coming to town! During our event, local food trucks will be available to get food and drinks.

The Delaware Center for Horticulture Receives Grant from Delmarva Power through the Delaware Nature Society

Wilmington, DE – The Delaware Center for Horticulture (DCH), a local non-profit organization dedicated to improving the community through the power of plants, received a $10,000 grant from Delmarva Power through the Delaware Nature Society. The 2022 Delmarva Sustainable Communities Program grants are awarded to municipalities, recreational authorities and nonprofits for projects focusing on open space preservation, improvements to parks and recreation resources, and environmental conservation.

A communal seating area, co-working spaces and gardens and landscaping designed by the Delaware Center for Horticulture will also add to the atmosphere and attractiveness. 

“Chancery Market represents the start of exciting redevelopment projects for 1313 N. Market and 1201 N. Market,” 1213 N. Market and TSG Hospitality LLC’s Scott Johnson said. “As our tenants continue to return to the office environment, Chancery Market and the adjacent outdoor plaza will be an exciting amenity for professionals in the city, as well as a welcoming gathering place for our wider community and visitors.”

In total, gardeners throughout the greater Philadelphia area donated more than 18,728 pounds of produce to local nonprofits.
