Garden description: Some people decorate with furniture and accessories, but I decorate with colorful flowers and textured plants. I especially love to add tropical plants of Canna’s, Hibiscus and Elephant ears to all my outdoor spaces. I have chosen the color palette of pink and purple. For added color I plant pots of coral. The vibrant colors Welcome you wherever you enter the property.
Who are the gardeners: This garden is planted and watered by myself with a little help from mother nature.
Why do you garden: My gardens allow me to connect with nature and takes me to a “Happy Place” away from everyday stress of work and life. A smile is put on my face, as wells as, everyone else face when they see the overflowing plants with flowers.
How has gardening impacted you during this time: It has allowed me to spend more time deadheading and nurturing my plants in the morning hours when it’s cool outside.
What do you have in your garden? I use plants with different textures of leaves-from Lambs ears (silvergrey), Black Tara Elephant Ears, Purple Coneflower, several types of Rudbeckia flowers, Bayberry Lilies and Stella D’Oro Lilies, Bee Balm, iris, columbines, impatiens, poppies, larkspur and liatris. I also add sedum plants in small pots and wreaths. For a little extra flower diversion I have added a redwood barrel of herbs, a potted Tomatoe plant and Blueberry plants.
Do you have any problems with disease or pests? If so, how are you dealing with this problem? I have seen two Japanese Beatles for the first time in many years.
